My friends and I had a great discussion on Facebook regarding a BRAGGART. I was the one who started by posting this:

Bragging comes from a lack of self-confidence and a desire for external approval. Conversely, genuine modesty is a characteristic of someone who is secure with who they are. People who brag are calling attention to themselves because they don’t feel worthy of respect. It’s like wearing a sign that says “please notice me and tell me that I am special?

The discussion generated a long thread of comments and all opinions are equal. One of the comments really catches my attention which is from Jing.

Bragging – is a compensatory action to elevate ones own status or aggrandize ones own possession or endowment in an extremely obvious and exaggerated manner, due to the absence of confidence or the lack of self esteem (whichevah comes first). It believed not to be contagious but irritating to the 5 senses:

Smell – showing off too much perfume without even taking a shower.

Eyes/ Seeing – showing off loud colors and contrast and BIG BRANDs of the outfit without even thinking about the Season… yes, Season.

Hearing – babbling too much about whathaveyous, but in middle of the “babbles and FROTH” could not really stand and deliver. This is usually accompanied by an escalating gush of wind.

Touch – these type of people are highly corrosive, so it may burn your skin to a certain extent.

Taste – They are highly radioactive, so never ever lick their asses. In mild cases, there is always a “skull sign with X” on their forehead, this doesnt have to be licked nor tasted.

For your own safety, JUST STAY AWAY!!!

Below is an additional definition of a BRAGGER:

The braggart enjoys no credibility in what he/she says or proposes, unlike the truly intelligent person, who is modest and reserved. Quite the reverse, he/she dominates the conversation, not allowing others the time or opportunity to expose their own opinions, in this way depriving himself/herself of the insights of others, and onlookers the use of the word.

The braggart is not the high-spirited bon vivant that he imagines himself/herself to be. The true conversationalist is lively and brilliant in his/her ideas, moderate in his/her opinions, reserved in speaking of himself/herself, and discerning of situations. He/she takes into account the various circumstance, prudently judges persons and things, and expresses himself with goodness and tact.

In contrast, the braggart speaks in all directions at once, soon making contradictory statements. He/she violates the rules of logic in speech, plays with the truth, makes light of serious things, and ridicules acts of abnegation and sacrifice by his/her jocular tone and irreverent language. Through all his/her pores and from every word, egoism oozes from the braggart. He/she laughs at everything and dissolves the most serious topics – life and death, the sentiments of sorrow or pleasure, suffering and sacrifice – into vague notions.

The typical braggart has no authority on any topic, nor is he/she believed by anyone. Whether he/she realizes it or not, no one takes him/her seriously.

NOTE:
BATO-BATO SA LANGIT ANG TINAMAAN ANG NAGAGALIT!

Without further ado, here is the recipe of my famous pizza steak with tomato and mozzarella!

Ingredients:
500 grams ground beef
1 large onion, chopped finely
2 garlic cloves, crushed
70g (1 cup) breadcrumbs
1 egg, lightly whisked salt & ground black pepper, to taste
1 tsp. dried marjoram
1 tsp. dried oregano
2 package fresh mozzarella cheese, cut into 3 slices 2 medium tomatoes, cut into 3 slices each

How to:

Prepare all your ingredients before you begin. It is important to use mince from a cut of meat that has a little fat. This will not only add flavour, it also ensures a tender burger by preventing the patties from drying out during cooking. However, mince that is too fatty will expel the excess fat during cooking, causing the patties to shrink and toughen considerably. The egg acts as a binding ingredient so that the patties can be easily shaped. It also helps them hold together when cooked.

Place ground beef, onion, garlic, oregano, marjoram, breadcrumbs and egg in large bowl. Season with salt and pepper. Mix with your hands until evenly combined. Divide the mixture into 6 equal portions. Shape each portion with your hands into a patty.

Grill burgers 10 to 12 minutes (over medium heat) or to the desired doneness. Turn once, and add tomato and mozzarella slices on top of the burgers just to slightly melt.

Serve hot and drizzle with balsamic reduction or balsamic glaze!

Bon appetit!!!

Winter – is the time of the year when Winter is the time of the year when nature goes dormant and everyone’s favorite conversation is “Oh yes, it’s finally Winter!” and “Oh DAMN IT. I’m not emotionally ready to wave goodbye to the summer yet.”

As for me, I am definitely a summer person. I DO HATE WINTER because:

It’s soooo cold and it’s pitch black by 5:00. I love the sun so bright.

Waking up in winter is a 100 times harder than waking up in the summer. Getting out of the warm air pockets of the bed is HELL.

I turn from a night owl to a hibernating Mama Bear.

Ever tried encouraging a dog to do his business outside when it’s freezing and rainy?

I hate winter because it can be long and dreary and that is when I fall drepressed.

I have to shovel tons of snow out of our driveway.

I hate winter because of the road condition. It kinda sucks much of the time, leaving me to deal with slippery roads.

I’ve always loved gardening, biking and horseback riding. That’s why I hate winter because it forces me to be inside and I don’t like that.

I hate winter because I get sick way too easy.

Winter clothes suck. They’re bulky, constricting, and often end up making you look like a version of the Pillsbury Dough Boy or an Astronaut.

Are you a summer or a winter person? If you’re a winter person, please me enlighten with your reasons Why you love winter.

TO ALL FOLKS WHO WERE BORN IN THE 1950′s, 60′ s, 70′s and early 80′s !!

First, some of us survived being born to mothers who did not have an OB-Gyne and drank San Miguel Beer while they carried us.

While pregnant, they took cold or cough medicine, ate Linunod, balikutsa, bukhayo and didn’t worry about diabetes.

Then after all that trauma, our baby cribs were made of hard wood covered with lead-based paints, ang uban kay duyan nga habol gihigtan ug pisi nga inigtabyog ug kusog ma pakong intawon ta sa bongbong.

We had no soft cushy cribs that play music, no disposable diapers (lampin lang sa General Milling nga naa’y faded picture nga nag-salute), and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, no kneepads, wala pa gyu’y break ang bisikleta.

As children, we would ride in hot un-airconditioned buses with wooden seats (Bisaya Bus nga pultahan puros ang kilid, Corominas Bus nga senimana ang brake), or cars with no airconditioning & no seat belts (karon kay Minibus na nga nindot kaayo ug sounds or Ceres Bus nga bugnaw ug aircon)

Riding on the back of a carabao on a breezy summer day was considered a treat.

We drank water from the garden hose and NOT bottled mineral water sa Nature Spring or Viva, or Absolute Mineral water (usahay gani, straight from the faucet or poso or Tabay!)

We shared one soft drink bottle with four of our friends, and NO ONE actually died from this or contacted hepatitis.

We ate rice with star margarine, bahaw nga gibutangan ug asin ug mantika sa baboy, drank raw eggs straight from the shell and drank soft drinks with real sugar in it (dili diet coke or Pepsi Max), but we weren’t sick or overweight kay…

WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, and get back when the streetlights came on. Syatong, Bato-Lata, Bagol, Dakop-Dakop, Tago-Tago, Ngita’g Kaka.

No one was able to reach us all day ( wala pa’y uso ang cellphone) . And yes, we were O.K.

We would spend hours building our wooden trolleys (katong bearing ang ligid) or Karitong Kawayan nga karaang tsinilas ang giporma nga ligid and then ride down the street , wala ma’y gidungog nga naligsan atoh! After hitting the sidewalk or falling into a canal (sewage channel) a few times, we learned to solve the problem ourselves with our bare & dirty hands.

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo’s, X-boxes, no video games at all, no 100 channels on cable, no DVD movies, no surround stereo, no IPOD’s, no cell phones, no computers, no Internet, no chat rooms, and no Friendsters. …….. …WE HAD REAL FRIENDS and we went outside to actually talk and play with them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no stupid lawsuits from these accidents. The only rubbing we get is from our friends with the words..sakit bai ? pero kung kontra gani nimo ang imong kadula,,,,singgitan lang dayon ug..Mayra,Gabaan!

We played marbles (jolen) in the dirt , washed our hands just a little and ate Pan Bahug-bahug & Bagumbayan (recycled bread man diay to kay wala mahalin!) We were not afraid of getting germs in our stomachs.

We had to live with homemade guns (giporma nga kahoy, gihigtan ug garter ug lastiko) , saplong , tirador ug uban pa nga pwedeng magkasakitay. Pero lingaw gihapon kaayo ang tanan.

We made up games with sticks ( syatong ), and cans ( Bato-Lata )and although we were told they were dangerous, wala man gyud to’y actual nga nabuta bah, bukol lang nuon sa agtang naa.

We walked, rode bikes, or took tricycles to a friend’s house and knocked on the door or batoon ug gagmay nga bato ang bungbong, or just yelled for them to jump out the window!

Mini basketball teams had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn’t pass had to learn to deal with the disappointment.

That generation of ours has produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers, creative thinkers and successful professionals ever! They are the CEO’s, Engineers, Doctors and Military Generals of today.

The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas. We had failure, success, and responsibility. We learned from our mistakes the hard way. You might want to share this with others who’ve had the luck to grow up as real kids. We were lucky indeed. And if you like, forward it to your kids too, so they will know how brave their parents were. It kind of makes you want to go out and climb a tree, doesn’t it?!

PS – The big letters are because your eyes may not be able to read this if they were typed any smaller (at your age? Duh!).

Make Event Registration Hassle-Free With Web Based Event Registration Software

Organizing an event can be overwhelming. Online registration using web based event registration software provides a way to lighten the load. With web based event registration software, an event director can create registration forms, see new attendees immediately as they sign-up online, as well as view waiting lists and cancelled attendees. The online registration forms links directly from your church website for easy access by your members and visitors. The web based event registration software allows individuals to sign-up multiple guests on one registration form.

Web Based Event Registration Software — Simple To Use

Eliminate confusion and frustration with Congregation Builder’s web based church management software. It functions seamlessly together with other products like web based event registration software and web based room reservation software. Various sections of all three can be embedded into a church or business website so a web master doesn’t have to constantly revise the website. The church calendar, the upcoming church services page, the upcoming events page and event registration pages all link together. As information is altered in the web based room reservation software, the other divisions automatically change, avoiding extra work and double booking.

Try Web Based Church Management Software for Free

Congregation Builder offers a completely free trial for 30 days on all of their software. This free, temporary version, provides a user an account with full capability. Once upgraded to a regular, paid account, you would not lose any of the data you entered during the trial period. For those who prefer not to input data, they can simply view the interactive sample pages that appear just as they would after purchasing the web based church management software, web based event registration software or web based room reservation software.

The Last Time I felt Like This (Background music anyone?)

Who was your first love? Why did you break up with him or her? And do you still love him or her? Would you reconnect if your ways cross again?

We are old enough to answer this question di ba? So no malice please. You may or may not answer this question…it is all up to you.

We can’t help but remember our first loves, even if we’d rather forget them. Whether it was a high school sweetheart, your first real relationship after college, or the first person you said “I love you” to, chances are that person still holds a powerful spell over you.

So I just wanted to ask who was your first love (no need to write the real name, just replace it with dots)? Why did you break up with him or her? And do you still love him or her?

As for me, ang una kong pag-ibig ay si Dot Dot Dot. We didn’t broke up dahil hindi naman kami naging magsyota. Yes, I could feel it but I was not certain if I was right. All I did was waiting, waiting for him to tell me that he loves me too. Alangan namang ako ang manligaw . I was 19, he was 20…we were both young and shy. Around 1981, umalis ako sa dati kong tinirhan without telling him. Para que? Basta’t umalis nalang akong bigla. Masakit kasi sa puso ang ganoong sitwasyon. Kaya I decided to move somewhereelse to forget him…

Don’t be shy girls/boys, common open up .

Desclaimer: Images are not my own; they were found on Google.

ANG KARUGTONG…

I moved somewherelese para kalimutan siya. Kalimutan…is a word that can be easily spoken. Umalis si B. papuntang States matapos kong manganak and he promised to come back para sa aming wedding. Constant pa ang aming communication nung una…but then few months later, bigla nalang itong natigil. I waited patiently…but nothing happened. Until one day, Kuya W. (B’s big bro) came to visit us and told me that I should forget B. because he is already engaged to someoneelse. Gumuho ang aking mundo, and my future was sealed on that day. I lose my face and my future. I said I lose my future dahil alam ko namang wala na akong pag-asang makakapag-asawa pa sa atin. I was only 21 that time. And I was also working at the same time. My studies, my work and my child kept me going…

God didn’t give up on me. And when I was there…I met a German who was actually searching for his penpal. To make the story short, nagkatuluyan kaming dalawa. I left Philippines in 1983.

So here we are now in 2010 and things are looking great for me and my family. Last September 15, I went to Frankfurt para makiramay sa isa kong kaibigan. I admit, I am Facebook addict . After logging in, I saw I have 3 new messages. One from my sister-in-law, one from my nephew who was asking for his FTP password and one from, OH MY GODDD!!! I almost fall down from my chair!!! I just can’t believe it. Dot Dot Dot wrote something like: Kilala ko pa ba daw siya at iba pa. At iba pa.

Sa madaling salita, nalaman ko ngayon na after all these years…mahal niya pa rin ako. Oo, aminado ako…it feels like heaven dahil ito yong pinakaantay ko noon. I have to accept and face it na minsan…madamot talaga ang tadhana.
