The Tracy Isabel Borres In Us

There is a story going around about Isabel Borres and her “immersion experiences” with an Aeta community. Reynz an many others wrote about it. This is indeed a very hot topic at the moment!

It is just that the behaviour of this stupid spoiled brat reminds me of some incidents I witnessed before. The Tracy Isabel Borres in us or better to say the bad in us. Hindi lang kasi si Isabel ang umaarte ng ganyan, I find that even matured educated people are acting in a totally irrational manner.

When I was in Davao, I met a group of Balikbayan from Germany during the Caracoles Festival in Samal Island last May. With them are their husbands. I asked them if we can join. Umoo naman sila kaya ayon nagtake a sit na ang Tita Poorshya niyo and my two makulets. A waitress came after a few minutes and so we ordered our food. I learned from them na doon na pala sila sa Samal nakatira. Pensionado na siyempre ang kanilang mga jowa kaya they can afford to stay there for good and build a mala palasyong bahay. One of the German guy told me that he felt like a king daw doon. Heneweys, I was so grateful talaga as our food was served. I was also hoping they will leave me alone habang ako ay lumalafang. Teach kasi nang mader ko when I was a kid na huwag magkuwentuhan habang kumakain.

Sorry pero da makuwentong grupo did not refrain from talking. Me full mouth and no choice than to tango nalang nang tango. Maya-maya, a Badjao kid approached our table at naupo sa isang bakanteng silya. The self-proclaimed donyas were aghast at ipinagtabuyan ang bata. They uttered the same words Tracy Isabel Borres spoke on her Fisbuk blog. Kadiri kid, mabaho, madungis and etcetera. Holy cow!!!

I did not say anything, basta’t kinawayan ko ang waitress and asked her to bring extra plate and kubyertos for the kid. The child was obviously hungry. What a shame!

How true, how true…

People are blinded by money. People are blinded by power. People are blinded by pleasure.
People who are blinded by their own pursuits and pleasures are blinded about the reality.
People who put their desires ahead of everything are “spiritually blind”.

Kita niyo? The group I mentioned is only one of the good example. And this kind of incident happens everyday I think at hindi lang during “immersion”. Sana naman we should not forget who we are or where our families started. Don’t forget those who made you and where you come from. Kasabot?

I really hope you don’t take it against the Jesuits or Ateneo in general. They create these programs with noble intentions and as much as they would want thing such as these within their control, obviously it is not. Maybe measures on how to prevent this should now be taken. She is a brat and that is around 16 to 18 years of upbringing that the school is challenging. I guess her experiencing “hell” out there is just what she needed. She obviously didn’t learn from it as intended by the school but the consequences of her actions hopefully will make her learn and grow up. Now I wonder if she’ll ever be accepted in a job!:o

    Hello Ate Beng!

Actually, I don’t get it, why she was allowed to go in the first place. First of all, you need to attend an orientation for you to be able to really grasp the idea of immersion. During the orientation, every thing will be explained even the life of the Aetas, how they live and all the others. If she did not understand everything, or was not able to attend the whole orientation she should have not been allowed to go.

This is also a lesson to those who are organizing an immersion project. It was supposed to make the participant learn that there are people out there living that way but instead, the participant did not get the message but disgust. How unfortunate! Really, really unfortunate. Sad, sad, sad. πŸ™ πŸ™ πŸ™

eniway, i totally agree with yah manay. nagkalat ang tracy borres dito sa tin. feeling sosyal, nakatikim lang ng steak ayaw ng bumalik sa bulad hahaha

and speaking of tracy, i blame the parents for raising a kid as such. siguro nagmana yun sa nanay LOL

when i was her (tracy) age, hinde ako ganun mag isip. ok given na, hinde naman kami mayaman so wala akong karapatan mag-maganda but the point is, mayaman o mahirap, no one has the right to demean others

that goes to say… educated men should be educated better for them to learn compassion to the less fortunate! what a shame that those who are learned are the ones who are less concerned with the plight of their brothers… such a shame indeed
