From West To The East

Let me start with “from Philippines back to Alemanya” episode muna tayo ok?

Around February this year, I am sure you remember that I wrote an entry about going or migrating back to the good old bayan kong (nating) Pilipinas. The preparation and everything went smoothly. First week of June, Kathleen was enrolled in Ateneo de Davao H.S and Gillian in Circular Home Pre-School.

Right after the enrollment stress, I went to my birthplace Butuan City to manage my kapiranggot na lupa while waiting for the result of my queries regarding our planned business. Yes, hubby and I has planned to put up a clinic in Davao for tourist and expat patients. Siyempre, kong manirahan kami doon we need a source of income to live. Di vah? Akala ko/namin dahil may mga kaibigan kaming naka upo sa may talampakan ni GMA, (who promised to help us) things will be easier for us. That is what we thought, but later I realized that almost everything is different in real. Every move that I made means dukot sa bulsa, which was tiring in the long run at nakakaloka dahil slow ang feedback. Kids were sad as I told them that we have to go back. Siyempre nalungkot din ako but I had no choice. Anyways, THEY put stones on our way and make it hard for us to achieve success, so we left. Hindi sa pagmamayabang but we were ready to invest €XXX,XXX.XX, an adequate amount to operate a modern clinic with own laboratory. Well sayang, but it’s not our loss but theirs…

“FROM THE WEST PART OF GERMANY…TO THE EAST”

In spite of everything, hubby still decided to pursue his plan…dito nga lang sa Germany. Doon lang ito maari o posible sa lugar na may bakanteng “Niederlassung Stelle” or let say “Area of Need” where there is a shortage of specific medical practitioners. We actually had three (3) choices: 1. Usedom 2. Lindenberg-Allgäu and 3. Brandenburg. We decided for Brandenburg dahil mas malapit ito sa sibilisasyon, Potsdam and Berlin for instance.

We have to move din sa lugar na ito of course and so we found a new place to live. Ito ngayon ang aming bagong tahanan.

It’s a 284 sqm. country style house, with 6 bedrooms on the second level, 2 bathrooms and one dressing room. While sa ground floor naman, we have a huge kitchen and dining, storage room, spacious and comfortable living room. There is also a sauna, a fitness and laundry room and an office space din pala which is occupied by my better-half.

Our clinic started its operation last October 1. Now, let me show around…

Below is the former “Landes Ambulatorium” (outpatient clinic) building, where our clinic is located.

The reception area…

The waiting room…

Laboratory…(not done yet)

Consulting Office 1

Consulting Office 2

…and the two medical assistants 🙂

The couple behind it.

But I think it was not yet the right time, so until then…I have to wait by the edge of my seat nalang muna.

    Hello Ate Beng!

Congrats! Hirap talaga pag maraming tse-tse-buretse no. O ayan, ang bilisbilis niyong na-set-up yong clinic niyo dyan sa Alemanya.

🙂 Enjoy the rest of the week kahit busy sa clinic.

      Hi Sofie darling,

Thank you very much!!!

Ha! Malas nila kong silay nag-akalang nagbibiro lang kaming mag-asawa. You are right nga na ang bili-bilis naming na set-up ang clinic dito. Can you imagine, the kids and I arrived on August 16. The week after, pumunta kami kaagad sa Brandenburg to meet the mayor and district administrator. Then from that time on, naging super busy na ako negotiating with the “Möbelwerkstatt” furniture shop who made our reception counter and other companies who can deliver clinic equipments and other supplies.

Hope you can visit us here someday. We do miss you a lot too.

Hmm, one of these days, baka nga mabisita ko kayo dyan. :bigsmile Hoping… :thinking

Sayang at dito sana kayo nagtayo ng clinic and nadala niyo sana yang mga modern facilities niyo… sayang talaga.

It really looked like you were talking to the wrong persons… Dapat dumeretso ka na kay Mayor Duterte.. I’m sure they would have loved your plan…. it will benefit Davao city and its residents.

I would like to ask permission to post about your article on my Davao Blog and Mindanao Bloggers mailing list. Will wait for your response.

      Hello Migs,

Thank you so much for your visit and comment. Yeap, talagang nakaka-high blood ang nangyari. Alam mo, balak ko talagang umappeal kay Mayor Duterte or Inday Sarah to ask for his/her support. I was afraid kasi na hindi nila ako haharapin. Sayang talaga dahil, hubby and I had also planned of opening a charity medical organization for the less fortunate kababayan natin diyan. To give free consultation and medication baga sana.

Btw, yes na yes ang sagot diyan sa balak mong gawin and thank you very much in advance. There was a time na na pumunta diyan si Ms. Janette Toral, I heard about kaya lang late na. Well, kong ano ang hindi natuloy last time ay maari pa namang mangyari in the future di ba? I am eager to meet Davao bloggers talaga.

Pero alam mo bang I have to learn as practical nurse ngayon?

Nasa soccer training si Kathleen ngayon but I’ll extend your greetings to her. Take care and God bless you!!!

But we learned something one way or another that if we trust, there is also a tendency that we fail. Thank you very much for your kind wishes.

  7. OMG ate Beng that looks awesome! I like your new home plus the clinic looks so sophisticated and state of the art! It is indeed true that everytime you move around in the Philippines it involves money especially when relatives are also in the picture. Anyway, ate did you get my message regarding my blog update?

    • Beng says:

Hi Charles, many thanks. Luckily, my relatives are not like others kaya hanga talaga ako sa kanilang lahat. Regarding your message, sorry my dear pero hindi ko ito natanggap. Would you mind sending it again please? Are you in Norway na ba? Hope all is well with you…

I am doing well ate and yes my mail is just about my wordpress update plus I lost the details of my control panel like its address, username and password. Ate Beng, beautiful clinic – and I must say, mas pabor akong dyan na lang sa Germany considering na if you live in Pinas for a longer time syempre ultimate adjustments, lalo na for your kids. Your new house is very laid back – parang country side.

So are you back na in Germany for good? Di kayo napa-daan sa HK like you said, sayang. I’d love to meet you and family and enjoy the Disney.

    • Beng says:

Hi K, thanks a lot. Oo nasa country side kami and our house is just a bit laid back. May mga kapitbahay kami actually but the lot where the house is built is soooo huge kaya wala kaming kadikit. I take it as blessing in disguise na hindi natuloy ang clinic namin doon sa atin. I believe there is a reason for everything that happen in our lives kaya okay lang.

‘lam mo, I was really planning to fly to HK for a week to see the place and of course meet you din. Hubby suggested I should go and see another place with the kids before we finally go back to Germany. Sayang, but never mind…next time na lilipad kami I’ll see to it na dadaan kami diyan sa iyo. I would love to meet you too personally.

Sorry for my late reply. Well, I can not give you any concrete hints dahil sa Maynila ako nagkaroon ng problema. Bakit doon? 17. Dear Beng,
When things happen to the way you are not expecting or wishing it to be, there is only one comforting
thought…there must be a reason…painful as it might be. Good that you decided fast to do the next
step and did not postpone your decision to go back. Doors close but there are other doors to be opened.
Pero BAKET! I was already planning to surprise you with a visit and that we will enjoy durian eating orgy
in Davao if not this year then next year!
So again, siguro the Durians for me can wait next time you come back for a visit and be sure you bring
a lot of chillies…powdered or dried (how you would use them is another strategy) for these sub-humans who think nothing but in terms of monetary benefits rather advantage for themselves.
Pero okey naman you look in white uniform kesa duon sa nakaakyat ka sa punong niyog.
Wish you all the best in your new place and work and hopefully we could enjoy Durian there kahit na lang
frozen. Sige and keep in touch, Madam Looking Rich not Lukaret from Tita Bee.

    • Beng says:

Our plan was really brilliant like you said dahil maraming foreigners from Europe ang naninirahan na doon.

Here is an excerpt from Davao City Official Website:
As Davao is being geared up to become a better retirement haven in this part of the region, more and more people from all over the globe have started finding their respective places in the city. With a bigger space to accommodate more people than other cities in the region, there certainly is a place within the city ready to welcome new members of the Davao community.

Before WWII broke out, Davao is already a melting pot of Asia with nationals from India, Indonesia, Malaysia, China, and Japan doing business at first with the locals but eventually decided to stay for good and consider it a home. There was even a period when the place was called the “Little Tokyo” of the Philippines because of the presence of hundreds of Japanese workers who have migrated to the City at the height of the massive production of abaca fiber.

Being a relatively peaceful place with a cosmopolitan setting that is relaxed, foreign nationals find it easy to assimilate in a place that is generally appreciative and respectful of cultural uniqueness.

Ethnic groups in Davao include Americans, Koreans, Chinese, Japanese, Indians, Indonesians, Malaysians, Australians, Germans, Italians, and other nationals from Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.

Sorry to hear that your plan of migrating in the Philippines didn’t work out. Well maybe it was just wasn’t God’s plan for you guys.

The house and the clinic look really nice. I wish you guys all the best! God bless! 🙂

    welcome back, my dear friend.

  33. Hello Ate Beng,

I’m sorry it didn’t work out for you in the Philippines. I was actually thinking that you were only going for a vacation because you are still too young for retirement 😉 . Anyhow, like you said it’s not the right time yet.

Your country home is awesome! It looks very inviting. Congratulations on the new clinic! It looks very therapeutic with all the orchids, you certainly gave the tropical touch. Best wishes for your new biz. Take care, Tina

Hello Kat, thank you very much for the visit :). You made me smile while reading your comment. I am just glad that you like the way I wrote – which is so amateur :). Well, writing is not really my forte, but I am trying to be honest in what I wrote. Hehehehe. God bless you too!
