Some Words To Ponder

WHEN I’M HURTING

It’s easier for you to walk away, than it is for you to reach out to me.
It’s easier for you to look away, than it is for you to see the depth of my despair.
It’s easier for you to look through me, than it is for you to see “me.”
It’s easier for you to distance yourself, than it is for you to really care.
It’s easier for you to hear, than it is for you to listen.
It’s easier for you to judge, than it is for you to understand.
It’s easier for you to label, than it is to get acquainted.
It’s easier for you to bask in your joy, than it is for you to feel my pain.
It’s easier for you to bewilder at my mysteries, than it is for you to probe deeply into the depths of my soul.

It’s easier for me to look away, than it is to let you see the feelings betrayed through my eyes.
It’s easier for me to cry, than it is for me to talk.
It’s easier for me to walk alone, than it is to risk rejection.
It’s easier for me to push you away, than it is for me to be held.
It’s easier for me to distance myself, than it is to trust that you won´t hurt me.
It’s easier for me to die, than it is for me to face life’s challenges. (more…)

One Student One Tutor

Saturday, January 19th, 2008

What are you going to do if your child is not doing well in school? My daughter is 8th grader (in Gymnasium) and her grade on certain subject is suffering. Being a parent, it is my duty to support her and listen and to understand what is happening. I talked to her, and she acknowledges that she’s struggling in Math, so I got her a tutor. The tutor gave my daughter confidence, and provided lots of tailored work to suit her needs. KC ended up getting a 1- in Math last week.

Friendship Badge For Blogger Friends

Friday, January 18th, 2008

friend.jpg I would like to thank Scarty and Sofie with all my heart for giving me this very meaningful friendship badge. Kong iisipin, through our blogs nagsimula at nabuo ang ating pagkakaibigan. Some of you I already met in person at ang iba naman ay nakausap ko na sa telepono. I find it really amazing how our friendship develop, at para sa akin, we are like a very close-knit family sa loob at sa labas ng internet. You were here to held me up when I was down…and you lift my spirit up high when it has fallen. You were also here when I had trouble…you gave me your full support. With that being said, I would like to thank all of you for being so true to me…

The Convenience Of Online Shopping

Wednesday, January 16th, 2008

With the gas prices going higher faster than we can blink our eyes, online shipping has become an attractive alternative than going to our favorite stores in person. When shopping online, we all want perks to save some money right? Different stores has been offering free shipping as an extra incentive for shoppers to buy from them online. Get free shipping codes from stores like Amazon, Apple, Best Buy, HomeDepot, Kohls, Macys, Target,Old Navy to name a few. It would be great to go to a portal site just for free shipping codes. You don’t have to look any further because freeshipping.org has come up with a list of the stores who are offering free shipping conveniently just a click away. Coupons do expire so they keep the list updated to make it convenient and efficient for shoppers like you and me.

I like the clean, neat and well organized design of their website. It’s easy to find the stores I want to shop from. Some stores even offer free shipping both ways to make returns and exchanges hassle free. If you are not given the free shipping page automatically it means you have to use the codes at check out. The challenge is to remember to input them when you are about to confirm your order.

Blending New And Old Tradition

Wednesday, January 16th, 2008

Having lived in Germany for over 24 years now, some things that were odd to me when I first arrived seem so normal to me now. For instance, Karneval. There’s no such thing in my country, so seeing people in crazy costumes, singing and dancing in the street, hugging, kissing strangers and throwing confetti and shouting “Hellau” was strange and err, a bit shocking to me. The term Karneval is from the Latin “carrus navalis” - meaning, the ship of fools. This season is a time of wild fancy dresses, parties and costume balls which are open to the public. Karneval reaches its climax in big street processions with elaborately decorated floats, usually on Rosenmontag. The season actually begins on November 11 at 11:11 pm and ends on Ash Wednesday. Something about all those elevens being lucky or perhaps something about them relating to foolishness, I am not certain. Karneval is a very old tradition in Germany and remained alive and let me add…wilder than ever.

Let us talk about something not really very German. Namely, Halloween. Few years ago, there was no sign of Halloween in Germany. Now, the trend is spreading and it is getting more popular over here. Traditionally, we don’t celebrate it here but some clever business people imported this idea from the USA. It’s a slow spread, but maybe Halloween will be more popular in few more years. It’s a fun time for kids though, they enjoy putting on costumes, and going door-to-door to get sweets. There are also some Halloween parties organized by some groups (Verein) or discos where people wear wild Halloween Costumes. I said wild because there are several people, mostly women who are so daring to wear odd costumes that expose excessive amounts of skin. Like the one I saw on TV, that particular costume was a Sailor Girl Pin Up inspired costume. Which consist of faux sequin crop top, fringe boy shorts with tie sides and garters, sailor hat, riding crop, stockings and boots.

Call me a prude, call me conservative, but this has nothing to do with Halloween anymore. It is in fact just another excuse for some German adults to go wild again.

Conserve Energy And Save Money

Saturday, January 12th, 2008

A couple of months ago, I wrote something about the economy situation here in Germany, how prices increased and etc. In addition to this topic, an energy multinational company announced a price increase for heating oil and natural gas few days ago. Now what does that mean for us consumers? It simply means higher heating bills, and the cost will hit us right where it hurts, namely in the wallet.

How to keep warm this winter without burning piles of money? We should start by taking a look around our house. Maybe it is time to change the thermostats. What about the windows? Windows play an integral role in creating an energy efficient home. If your old windows have not been properly weatherized, cold air can be sneaky. (more…)

Thank You Dear Google!

Friday, January 11th, 2008

You guys should congratulate me because I made it to the bottom. Some of you may also say “Welcome to the club!” See the image below? Google has slashed my PR from 5 to 3 just few minutes ago! Thank you dear GOOGLE for doing this to me. With this, I can continue dreaming. See, I’m just a pathetic paid blogger who dreamed to finance the education of my children from what I earned. Now what are you going to do next? Put my PR to 0? Just go ahead and I’ll say thank you again from the bottom of my whatever.

According to Ratified, I even reached PR 6 but unfortumately I never saw it.

Neonatal Jaundice And Kernicterus

Friday, January 11th, 2008

Jaundice in newborn babies usually goes away without any treatment. But if it’s more serious, simple treatments using lights usually help. One of my three children had jaundice or Gelbsucht (in German) when he was born and was treated with phototherapy until I took him home. On that time, I had not realized that severe jaundice can cause Kernicterus (brain damage) to a baby if left untreated. Thanks to God we had a great pediatrician.

What is Kernicterus? Kernicterus is a very rare type of brain damage that occurs in a newborn with severe jaundice. It happens when a substance in the blood, called bilirubin, builds up to very high levels and spreads into the brain tissues. This causes permanent brain damage. Kernicterus may be prevented by treating jaundice early before it gets severe.

What to do if you have a child who has Kernicterus? In this case, you may have a medical malpractice claim against healthcare providers who caused this injury. If you would like more information about your legal rights concerning a medical malpractice claim for Kernicterus, you may visit Kernicterus Law.

Bragging To The Max

Thursday, January 10th, 2008

I hate to say it but I ABHOR people who blatantly brag in the faces of other people who are struggling in life. It is simply rudeness, unfriendliness and insult to others! I understand that this poor thing, just want to impress others, catch others attention and to stand out from others (like a blinking neon roadside billboard at night). But I don’t think showing off the signature undies to the public is necessary. Okay I got the message, you want to let everyone know that you are all signature from top to bottom.

But how can you be so blind? You think you impressed them much with your €900 LV boots, whatever signature “underwear” and other signature bling-blings you have with you. But my dear, let me tell you something…the naked truth is - they are all making fun out of you. So if I were you, you’d better come down to the ground and act normal. You are not a socialite, you have no breeding so don’t act as if you belong to who’s who level because you are not.

I know that what you are doing is human nature. Everyone of us tries to make the people around us and the people we come in contact with, think very highly of us. But see, your way is completely off the mark. There are so many ways to impress people. I don’t know of a specific ways. But I am sure, people would like you for being you and not for trying to be like anyone else. And you know what? Perhaps we’d be more impressed with one another if we did not try to impress each other under the pretense of being judged.

Remote Viewing At It’s Finest

Saturday, January 5th, 2008

Home and business security systems are becoming a necessity with the increasing burglary. One needs to protect family members as well as their valued possessions and businesses. Nowadays, there are many kinds of home and business security systems which can have one or many kinds of devices working together. Surveillance cameras for example can be very useful and do a great job of keeping criminals and unwanted guest out of the premises. By the way, speaking of surveillance cameras, the latest web technologies allow easy remote viewing of multiple security cameras installed in your home and or business with a standard internet connection. Remote security cameras enables you to access, view and control your on-site video surveillance system with your pc or laptop. So, isn’t it a remote viewing at it’s finest?

Let’s Talk About Money Baby

Friday, January 4th, 2008

Okay, okay I just want to let you know that I am now officially launching…
Money Talk

Since iisang direksiyon ang ating layunin, why shouldn’t we unite?

Last month, I had a phone conversation with Marie and there was a word she uttered that I absolutely like, “SUPPORT”. Ika niya, ang pagdalaw niya sa naturang blog is not for nothing at all dahil ang dalaw na yon added traffic to the site. It’s a very noble idea isn’t it? Sang-ayun din ako dito! Dahil para sa akin, paid blogging is not a competition against each other. It is like a marathon race where I pass the baton to you and you come in fast and then the next person comes in faster and then next person comes in faster, but at the end if we win, then we all win together. That’s what it is like. So let us unite and support each other.

Sorry, I got carried away by my emotion. But I find it necessary to mention it para maintindihan ninyo kong ano ang aim sa proyektong Money Talk. Money Talk - is a support and exchange center for Filipino paid bloggers. Those who wish to join may visit the site and register. Huwag kayong magtaka kong dalawang forums palang ang available doon. I intentionally leave it open dahil kailangan ko ang tulong o suggestions ninyo. I mean which forums and boards to add na relevant sa ating layunin.

Whenever you have something in mind…comment box is there below. And oh before I forget, kindly spread the words and let mababait Pinoy paid bloggers join the club.
